Pinterest Party Apron Tutorial

This apron was used as a fun party favor for my Pinterest Party, but it can really be adapted to any fun theme.  The apron is a simple and inexpensive way to add a little flare to an event or just a fun item to make for yourself.

Material needed:
-Home Depot apron
-strip of fabric 6"X36"
-Fabric Glue
-All Purpose Craft Paint
-Decorating item (in this case it was a fabric swatch cut into the Pinterest P)

How To:
These Home Depot Aprons are priced very reasonably at a mere .77 cents, you can buy them in the store or order them here.  I recommend ironing them before starting your project.
The first thing to do is makeover the front square.  Take your All purpose craft paint and paint over the orange square, let this dry according to the instructions on the bottle before advancing to the next step.

Once dry, take your apron and decorate the now painted square.  Some ideas would be to use silk flowers, painting a design or applique.  In this case, I used a fabric cut out to resemble the Pinterest P and coated it with fabric glue.

While this is drying, start work on the ruffle.  Take your long strip of fabric and fold it in half length wise and iron.
Do a gathering stitch along the length of the fabric about .5 inches from the edge.

If you are unfamiliar with a gathering stitch, click here for a great tutorial.  You will be left with something that looks like this.
Now pin your gathered fabric to the back of the bottom of the apron to add a nice ruffle.
Now stitch a straight line just above the bottom of the apron to attach the ruffle and voila, you just completed an awesome apron to hand out at your party!
